Melanie Walter
Dr Melanie Walter is a postdoctoral researcher in the Genome Integrity unit under Anthony Cesare at the Children's Medical Research Institute, Sydney. In 2022, Melanie obtained her PhD in Medicine from the University of Sheffield, UK as part of the European Commission Horizon 2020 Marie Sklodowska-Curie ITN Integrata. During her PhD, Dr Walter investigated the role of the so-far unstudied UDP-glucose hydrolase NUDT22 in nucleotide synthesis, DNA replication and DNA damage in cancer. In addition, her PhD work focussed on the development and characterisation of potential small molecule inhibitors with computer-aided drug design.
